The central figure of the House of Culture’s new exhibition is the poet, educator, and artist Rabindranath Tagore, who lived in India at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. This exhibition is not merely a retrospective of a great man’s work, but an opportunity to discuss eternal themes that remain relevant across centuries and in various corners of the globe.

Ulyana Podkorytova. A Voice Is a Wave (still), 2025
Tagore saw dialogue as a fundamental property of culture and emphasised the importance of open interaction between people as the foundation of internationalism. He viewed nature as a source of inspiration, understood farming not merely as an economic activity but as a philosophical and creative practice, and pedagogy as the art of awakening the soul. We will explore how Tagore looked at the world: as a single whole where humans are inextricably linked to the environment, and creativity becomes a bridge between generations and cultures.
What does a person leave behind? Can ideas resonate in people’s hearts for centuries to come? How is spiritual continuity preserved? As we explore the exhibition, we will discuss how Tagore’s ideas are reflected in the poet’s own paintings and the works of contemporary Indian and Russian artists.
