Researching the Deaf Community

An interdisciplinary project dedicated to Deaf Studies.

T

Researching the Deaf Community (RDC) is an interdisciplinary project as part of the Deaf and Voiced programme at GES-2 House of Culture. Its primary objective is to support the emergence of Deaf Studies—an academic discipline new to Russia—as well as to foster fundamental and applied research into the pressing issues facing the community, alongside questions of Deaf culture, sign language, education, and identity.

The realisation of this project, grounded in contemporary social and cultural concepts of deafness, is impossible without the active involvement of Deaf and hard of hearing people, as well as like-minded hearing individuals. We are open to collaborating with educational and cultural institutions, as well as public organisations and grassroots initiative groups.
