The team of the GES-2 Soundsystem project, launched in winter 2023, announces the start of the third season. The structure of the programme is based on the Mind—Body—Spirit triad. All three elements are inseparably connected when we talk about the perception of music. We linked them to the term “sound system”, which emerged in 1950s Jamaica. Sound systems brought people together and sparked a wave of musical genres that continue to spread worldwide. Thus, the word mind can be connected to the exchange of knowledge and vinyl distribution, body to the unifying collective act of dance, and spirit to the spiritual influence of music through low frequencies.

Mind, Body, and Spirit in sound system culture are key to understanding how music and the listener influence one another. In GES-2 Soundsystem 3, each of these elements is given its own dedicated section, serving as a guide through different levels of musical perception. The Mind section includes public discussions and talks on the current state of the music industry; the Body section focuses on exploring states and sensations after a rave; and the Spirit section examines the connection between mental and physical recovery, as well as the memorial objects left behind after a party.
