The khadzar is a phenomenon unique to Ossetian culture. It is a special building erected in courtyards by residents of apartment blocks in North Ossetia for gatherings and feasts celebrating holidays and communal anniversaries.

We invite you to reflect on these public spaces and the relations that emerge within them—between people, cultures, and regions. Another key theme explores how members of different communities approach sharing collective experiences in their own way. We invite you to join us in discussing these themes, guided by masterpieces of Ossetian fine art and cinema, works by contemporary artists, and materials from field research and workshops conducted alongside the residents of Vladikavkaz.

In the format of a shared walk, we will explore the exhibition and its key themes. We will discuss the traditions and contemporary culture of North Ossetia, the phenomenon of the khadzar, and the shifting lifestyles of the region through cinema, the art of local artists, and works created specifically for this project. We will visit two spaces: the architectural installation on the Upper Platform, and Gallery C6, which houses a small temporary cinema for the duration of the exhibition.
