In the third season, the Body section examines the state of false anticipation of a party. In the context of frequent demand for raves at a cultural institution and an oversaturation of dance events, visitors will be able to experience an intentionally overloaded and overstimulated bodily state.

Programme

No More Parties

The curatorial team of GES-2 Soundsystem 3 and the creative association STVOL will present a six-hour audio journey studying the post-rave state, placing listeners in a dystopian setting of a party that never actually happened. The imagined dialogue between the audience and their bodies in dance exists outside the event itself: participants are recommended to arrive in an overstimulated state, by listening to records* that encourage active movement.

As part of an industry that responds to the desire for unrestrained motion, the STVOL community will reveal an unusual side of itself, immersing the audience in the state of coming down from a rave, without staging the event itself. Alongside the audio performances, the Playhouse will feature a pop-up installation depicting a destroyed post-rave environment — the familiar aftermath of STVOL’s usual events.

* Recommended albums:

Charli XCX — Brat
Confidence Man — 3AM (LA LA LA)
The KLF — Solid State Logik

And any other tracks that inspire extended dancing.

Sound will act as a guide for the intuitive recovery of an overstimulated body, which reacts automatically to rhythm. Where is the limit when your energy runs out? How do you emerge from the state of a party?
