Master classes

We invite all participants aged 18 and older to attend the master classes.

Master classes offer a chance to learn about the Vaults workshops and work with high-quality professional equipment. The program is suitable for anyone who wants to work with their hands, learn new skills, and create a unique gift for themselves or friends. All master classes are held in small groups of 2 to 4 people.

Master Class in Carpentry. Desk MirrorAssisted by a specialist from the Vaults carpentry workshop, select a shape for a desk mirror; cut the frame from solid oak or maple with a fret saw; mill grooves for the mirror using a milling cutter and special table; and finish with oil. Maximum size of the piece: 230 × 180 mm.

Master Class in Sewing a Longsleeve or T-shirtInna Alexeeva, a specialist from the Vaults textile workshop, will teach techniques for working with knitwear and help you choose suitable patterns. You'll cut and sew your own long-sleeve or T-shirt (shorter sleeves available). You'll learn to use overlock, coverstitch, and straight stitch sewing machines.

Master Class in Clay Modelling with PunchesLearn the fundamentals of clay working and create a dish using punches—special moulds for ceramic dishes. Collect your finished piece after firing (minimum two-week turnaround). Further details will be provided by the specialist.

Master Class in Manual Optical Black and White Photo PrintingLearn the principles and techniques of classical analogue printing with photo lab head Andrey Shagin. Print a photograph using one of our negatives of GES-2 or the Vaults, or bring your own.

Master Class in 3D Scanning and PrintingAt the 3D printing workshop, you can create your own 3D portrait or miniature copy of any object you bring. Vaults specialist Sergei Kalinin will explain the technical subtleties of 3D scanning and printing, and help you with your work.

Master Class in PotteryNatalia Tsygankova, specialist at the Vaults ceramics workshop, will explain the principles of working on a potter's wheel and guide you in creating a unique piece of pottery. You will decorate the item with engobes and prepare it for firing. Collection of your finished piece, after firing and glazing (if required), is possible after at least two weeks. Further details will be provided by the pottery specialist.
