A reminder that, at 82 years old, Cronenberg is still one of the world’s great filmmakers: bold, uncompromising, clever, and fearless.
— Adam Nayman, The Ringer
The Shrouds has everything that distinguishes Cronenberg’s work: scars and amputations, suspense and anxiety, body horror and futurism. But behind the plot about a mysterious international conspiracy, a personal wound is visible: the film is largely based on the director’s experiences as a widower.
