96 minutes, English with Russian subtitles
Starring: Michael Lake, Melissa Davis, Norman Boyd, Rhys Davis
What happened to civilisation, God knows: all that’s left is a sun-scorched, merciless wasteland. There are hardly any people, so when Smith stumbles across a brother and sister living here, he takes it as a miracle. Maybe they can help him cross the neighbouring mountains? Except the brother gets around in a wheelchair and the sister is insane.

Spirits is incredibly beautifully shot — Proyas has an excellent eye for visual composition.

The film turns out to be not an action about survival, but a lyrical drama filled with symbolism about the dream of flight even in a world that stubbornly pins its inhabitants to the ground.
