In February 2025, V–A–C Press launches a new series of activity books within the children’s publishing programme—100 Questions and Answers about GES-2. The first edition focuses on the House of Culture’s architecture. The building bears traces of time, past projects and hundreds of thousands of visitors. Understanding Italian architect Renzo Piano and his team’s design principles helps us better appreciate and care for the building.

Renzo Piano, a pioneer of eco-tech architecture, emphasises how technological and engineering solutions can harmonise with nature. GES-2 functions as a complex system: the building breathes through blue pipes, converts solar energy and harvests rainwater. No wonder Piano often refers to his projects as living organisms.

Artist Katya Dorokhina, who created the activity book, invites workshop participants to explore this metaphor and use graphic techniques to visualise GES-2 as a living creature.

Instructor

Katya Dorokhina — an artist, illustrator, and animator who experiments with various techniques and formats. Her work explores themes of nostalgia and memory, maintaining a sense of innocence and openness throughout her projects.
