Pianist Laura’s boyfriend invites her to spend the weekend out of town. Halfway there, Laura realises she is not ready and asks him to turn the car around. As a result, an accident occurs, killing the man and leaving the woman completely alone. She is taken in by the family of Betty, who happened to witness the car crash: they have clothes that fit Laura and a piano. But why are these people so willing to welcome a stranger?

Shot from Miroirs No. 3, 2025
It’s a rare feat for a film to keep the audience teetering on the edge of their seats in such an effortless way, just through the quiet interactions between four gentle souls.
—Nik Grozdanović, Screen Reflection
Christian Petzold, a master of the Berlin School, provides answers to these questions with a level of sensitivity rarely found in the intellectual thriller genre. And there is certainly no other thriller that culminates in a classical music concert.
