More than 40 murders in the same scenario: respectable family fathers suddenly go off the rails and kill their wives and children before taking their own lives. At the scene of each tragedy, a letter signed “Longlegs” is found. FBI agent Lee Harker is the only one who seems to see this as a cause for investigation.

Throughout the film, the director balances on the edge between the realistic and the supernatural, diligently unnerving the viewer not only with the spectacularly creepy protagonist (Nicolas Cage), but also with the almost Lynchian atmosphere of an unnoticeably deranged routine.
