When 90-year-old filmmaker Hans-Jürgen Sieberberg was nine years old, the town Demmin near his home village became the site of a mass suicide by locals during the advance of the Red Army. Almost 80 years later, Demmin has never been the same—and the director is trying to transform the town square back into a living public space. It is about this attempt that he has made a movie.
