“I must inform you that the combined forces of the Texas and California separatists are on the verge of defeat,” the president of the United States rumbles on the television screen. Military journalist Lee frowns her forehead: apparently, the opposite is true. That means that tomorrow she will have to get to Washington in the company of her colleagues, crossing the front lines of the civil war, where adrenaline, fear and camaraderie mean much more than political position.
