Below the Grass invites visitors into a miniature world of animals and insects where familiar objects appear in dramatically different scales: grass blades tower like trees and mushrooms rise like buildings. Here, children can climb into a burrow or a hollow, peek into a beaver’s lodge, or crawl through a tunnel inside a mushroom. This immersive environment demonstrates how the same location is perceived differently depending on the observer’s size—whether human, mouse, or ladybird—highlighting that our world isn’t designed solely for human perception and can be explored from countless perspectives.
The Playground can get very busy at weekends and over holidays. If you can, try visiting during the week when it is much quieter.
You can contact us by email at kids@v-a-c.org.
— The Playground is open daily from 13:00 to 20:00.
— The second Monday of each month is a day off.
— At 14:30, 16:30, and 18:30, we close the Playground for a 30-minute cleaning.
— Changes may occur! Please check the schedule in advance.
— Before visiting the Playground, you will need to sign two documents: a visitor consent form and a personal data processing consent form (which requires your passport details). This can be done at the reception desk.
— If you wish, you can print the forms in advance, fill them in at home, and bring them with you to get playing sooner.
