The most radical formalist experiment of Indian cinema in terms of narrative, spatial, and temporal dissonance.
— Arun A.K., Mubi Notebook
The films of Mani Kaul, a master of Indian parallel cinema of the 1970s, balance on the edge of reality and fantasy, popular entertainment and avant-garde. In Undecision, almost everything is elusively surreal, and this phantom quality, among other things, showed how serious Indian cinema could be at a time when it was searching for its own language.
