Doctor Hitchcock is confined to a wheelchair and treats himself by injecting himself with poison and then immediately with an antidote. His wife is so exhausted by his behaviour that she turns to his assistant Livingstone with a request to poison her husband to death and share the future and inheritance with her. But, having got rid of Hitchcock, Margaret is, of course, doomed to see him again.

Freda’s skill in staging proves superior to that of any other Italian director.
