Edward suffers from neurofibromatosis, which gave him the face of an elephant man. Nevertheless, he dreams of becoming an actor. When a mysterious Swedish woman moves in next door and unexpectedly takes an interest in Edward, he finds hope for a better life, especially since there is a cure for his condition. The consequences of both the treatment and the romance will be unpredictable.

Shot from A Different Man, 2024

There’s some John Carpenter in this film, and some Woody Allen, and some John Cassavetes, and a healthy dose of Charlie Kaufman-style surreality.

— Alissa Wilkinson, The New York Times

Beneath the layers of make-up, this absurdist, simultaneously hilarious and provocative film reveals a multifaceted, ambivalent statement about the ugliness not of appearance, but of the soul.
