Object.exe
Composer Mark Griboyedov has created the piece Object.exe especially for the preview of the exhibition Still Life. Portrait. Landscape. After Genre.
Commissioning music for exhibition previews is one of the ways
For the preview of Still Life. Portrait. Landscape. After Genre, Mark Griboyedov created Object.exe—an audio collage, in his own words. It brings together sounds from different cultures and eras: field recordings made in craft workshops, familiar musical instruments, recognisable samples, and synthesised voices. Just as the exhibition uses works of visual art to show how genres have transformed over centuries, this musical piece assembles sonic fragments, linking past with future in a constant process of transformation.
Forms, ideas, the flow of time—everything merges here, and it is no longer clear what influenced the music earlier, what influences it now, and what will only be understood in centuries to come. One thing passes into another. Only change remains constant.
The concept for this work was born "from the middle"—I wanted to find a point from which one could observe both past and future at once. This is not an attempt to reflect reality, but rather my subjective understanding of the magic that arises when a multitude of works from different eras are gathered together in one place.
